there’s not going to be a PS4 at E3 and the PS3 isn’t going to let you stream games from the future. It is not. It was a nice notion, but we had been – possibly – way off.
So, and really feel totally free to disagree and throw tomatoes, here’s what I believe is going to come about. I’m not going to pretend to base all this on ‘insider sources’ or anything a lot more than a little bit bit of intuition and guesswork, but it’s reasoned, considered and – I reckon – almost certainly pretty close.
We won’t be seeing the PS4, but what’s to stop Sony pushing out a brand new, more affordable, lighter, smaller PlayStation three? Absolutely nothing, assuming the tech is there – what format this will have escapes me although.
No Blu-ray drive? Possibly, despite the fact that unlikely. No on line? No opportunity. Built-in streaming of PS3 games more than the internet (and Gaikai)?
Well, possibly – we hinted at this prior to and it seems like an obvious route to take, but it is been years considering that the slimmed down PS3 and it may well kick begin some sales. And keep in mind trade mag MCV had been 100% confident that there’d be new hardware this E3 (even though they changed their thoughts a bit) – does not needed mean a PS4, does it?
New PlayStation Plus
We’ve said this before, and despite the fact that the teases haven’t specifically been many, a few Tweets from SCEE staff (and some notable retweets) strongly recommend that PlayStation Plus will play a big function over in LA shortly.
Firstly, the surveys that appeared asking what game subscribers may prefer to see free with all the service will probably come to fruition in some guise. Once again – don’t go out and get Plus on my say so – but I’m guessing that there’s going to become some absolutely free games on present, or at least some to chose from even if you are only allowed to grab two or 3.
Secondly, the Gaikai thing – let’s be realistic here, this is not going to suddenly kick off future compatibility even if that idea is hugely thrilling. No, I’m thinking that if there’s a link in between Plus and Gaikai (if indeed it is Perry’s company that all this can be about) then it’s in all probability going to be streaming of PS3 games only.
Nicely, positive. Sony could possibly have currently shown off The Final Of Us, LittleBigPlanet Karting and God Of War: Ascension (among other individuals) but there’s a lot more to come – that a great deal is specific. What they may be we don’t know, but, but they’re coming, and are very probably to be rather huge.
And that’s just PS3. The Vita wants to step up and if it is going to demonstrate any sense of prospective it wants to do this at E3. Especially, Sony must have third party support effectively and truly onboard.
And by that I mean confirmation in the massive guns and precisely what those games will likely be – Assassin’s Creed, Contact of Duty – as opposed to just a logo after which silence for twelve months. And some good major AAA initially party stuff could be wonderful as well – let’s see Killzone four, a brand new portable Kratos adventure and more from Evolution.
Whatever happens, at this stage at the least we are able to make sure that Sony still possess a couple of secrets left to reveal – they’ve performed the majority from the ‘leaking’ themselves, keeping the console and its new games in the public’s eye nicely to get a excellent handful of months. But there’s always a surprise and nothing we’ve heard would recommend otherwise for E3 this year.
